The external antenna adapter lets you connect your Iridium 9555 satellite phone to an external antenna. Using an external antenna enhances satellite signal reception, especially when the internal antenna does not provide sufficient reception, such as inside buildings, vehicles, or obstructed locations.
Note: Connecting the external antenna adapter will disable your phone's internal antenna. Ensure you either connect an external antenna to the adapter or remove the adapter to use the internal antenna.
How to Install the External Antenna Adapter
Follow these steps to properly connect your antenna adapter to your Iridium 9555:
- Remove the rubber plug protector from the antenna connector on the back of your Iridium 9555 phone.
- Slide the phone into the antenna adapter.
- Rotate the adapter gently until it aligns and snaps into place.
- Connect the external antenna cable (via the TNC male connector) to the adapter's TNC female connector. Ensure the connection is snug and secure.
- For optimal reception, place the external antenna in a location with a clear, unobstructed view of the sky.
- Once connected, check the phone's display to ensure that it has registered with the Iridium network and has strong bars of signal.
