The SMS Expiry Period (also known as Message Validity Period) determines how long the Iridium network will attempt to deliver a message before deleting it if it remains undelivered.
You can adjust this setting directly on your Iridium 9555 handset by following the steps below.
Steps to Set the SMS Expiry Period
- Turn on your Iridium 9555 and go to the Main Menu.
Use the navigation keys to highlight Messages, then press the left soft key (labeled Select). - In the Messages menu, scroll to Settings using the 2-way navigation key and press Select.
- In the Settings menu, scroll to Expiry Period (may appear as Validity Period depending on your firmware version) and press Select.
- Use the navigation key to scroll through the list of available time options (typically ranging from 1 hour to 1 week).
- Highlight your preferred expiry period and press Select to confirm.
- The screen will return to the Settings menu. You can now press the End key to exit.
