The Earthmate app on iOS now allows you to navigate to waypoints stored on the inReach Explorer device. This provides the additional benefit of navigating to a waypoint while using a topo map.
Note: You must have an inReach Explorer device in order to use this feature, it will not work with the inReach SE.
Solution 1: Create a waypoint on the Earthmate app via the "Waypoints" function
1. Open the Earthmate app.
2. Tap on "More."
3. Tap on "Waypoints."
4. Tap on the "+" icon.
5. The app will drop a flag on your location. You can customize the "Name" field. You can also customize the flag by tapping on the flag icon.
6. Tap on "Done" when completed.
7. The waypoint will sync to the paired explorer unit, the explorer unit will then uplode the waypoint to the explore.delorme.com site.
Solution 2: Create a waypoint on the Earthmate map via the "Map" function
As an alternative to solution 1, you can create a waypoint from the Earthmate map
1. Open the Earthmate app.
2. Tap on "Map."
3. Tap on any location on the map. A blue information icon will appear, tap on the "items selected" box.
5. Tap on "New Waypoint."
6. The app will drop a flag on your location. You can customize the "Name" field. You can also customize the flag by tapping on the flag icon.
7. Tap on "Done" when completed.
8. The waypoint will sync to the paired explorer unit, the explorer unit will then uplode the waypoint to the explore.delorme.com site.
Solution 3: Creating a waypoint from a message
1. From the Earthmate app, tap on the "Messages" icon.
2. Tap on a message thread.
3. Tap on a specific message within the threaded conversation.
4. Tap on the uploader icon located in the top, right hand corner.
5. Tap on "New Waypoint."
6. Tap on the "Name" field to customize the name. Tap on the flag to customize the flag.
7. Tap on "Done" located in the top, left hand corner.
