When you turn on your Iridium Extreme®, you may see different messages on the display. These notifications help you understand what your phone is doing, or alert you when something needs your attention. This article lists the most common messages and what to do when they appear.
Tip: If you’re unsure about a message, please wait a few seconds. Many system messages clear automatically once the phone connects to the network.
SIM and Security Messages

| Bad Card | The SIM card may be damaged or incorrectly issued. | Contact your service provider for a replacement SIM. |
| Check Card | The SIM is inserted incorrectly or damaged. | Remove the SIM, clean the contacts, and reinsert it with the gold side facing down. |
| Denied | The phone connected to the network but access was denied. | Verify that your account is active. Contact your provider if this persists. |
| SIM PIN | The phone is requesting your SIM card PIN (4–8 digits). | Enter the PIN provided by your service provider, then press OK. If unsure, check the card packaging. |
| Invalid Account | The SIM may be inactive or expired. | Contact your provider to confirm your account status. |
| Phone PIN | The phone itself is locked. | Enter your phone’s PIN to unlock it. |
| PIN Blocked | The SIM PIN was entered incorrectly three times. | Follow the steps below to unblock your SIM using the PUK1 code. |
| PIN2 Blocked | The PIN2 (for restricted dialing) was entered incorrectly three times. | Unblock using the PUK2 code. This only affects restricted dialing features. |
| PUK Blocked – Contact Supplier | The PUK code was entered incorrectly too many times, permanently locking the SIM. | Contact customercare@bluecosmo.com for a replacement SIM card. |
How to Unblock a SIM (PIN Blocked)
If your phone shows PIN Blocked, you can unlock it using the PUK1 code that came with your SIM.
- Turn the phone on. The screen will show PIN BLOCKED.
- Enter
**05*and press the Green (OK) key. - When prompted, enter the PUK1 code.
- Scroll down to New PIN and enter
1111(or your preferred 4-digit PIN). - Scroll to Verify New PIN, re-enter
1111, then press OK. - The screen will display COMPLETED once the SIM is unblocked.
Note: Each SIM only allows a limited number of incorrect PUK entries. If your phone displays PUK Blocked, the SIM must be replaced.
Network and Connection Messages

| Registered | The phone is connected to the Iridium network. | You can now place and receive calls. |
| Searching for Iridium... | The phone is trying to find the satellite network. | Move outdoors with a clear view of the sky and keep the antenna upright. |
SOS and Emergency Messages

| CAUTION! You have not configured the GEOS Service | The SOS button feature isn’t yet registered with the GEOS emergency response service. | To use GEOS, select Use on your phone, then complete registration at the IERCC Registration Portal. Once registered, select OK to save settings. |
| CAUTION! Emergency call recipient has not been configured | No call recipient has been added for the SOS button. | Press Edit to add a recipient, or Cancel to continue. See Chapter 14 in the Iridium Extreme user guide for detailed steps. |
| CAUTION! Emergency SMS recipient has not been configured | No SMS contact has been set for the SOS feature. | Press Edit to add an SMS recipient, or Cancel to continue. |
Important Notes:
- The SOS button is for emergencies only. Do not make false SOS calls.
- Please review GEOS Terms and Conditions.
- If you don’t wish to use GEOS, select Do not use, then manually enter your own emergency contacts.
Quick Reference: Troubleshooting SIM or SOS Setup

| SIM errors persist after reinsertion | Try your SIM in another Iridium handset if available. If the issue remains, request a replacement SIM. |
| SOS messages keep appearing | Check SOS configuration under Menu → Setup → Location Options → Emergency. Ensure both Call and Message recipients are entered. |
