This article explains how to check and update the firmware on your Iridium GO! device. Keeping your firmware up to date ensures your device operates reliably and includes the latest features and improvements.Important:
- Only update to the latest firmware version. Never attempt to "downgrade" to an older version.
- A computer is required to complete the update process. Firmware cannot be updated via mobile devices.
How to Check the Current Firmware Version
You can check your firmware version from either the device itself or the Iridium GO! App.On the Iridium GO! Device- Turn on the device by flipping up the antenna or holding the power button.
- Press the left or right navigation key to bring up the menu.
- Press NEXT until you see INFORMATION.
- Press SELECT.
- Note the firmware version displayed under “f/w”.
On the Iridium GO! App
- Connect your phone or tablet to the Iridium GO! via Wi-Fi.
- Launch the Iridium GO! App.
- Sign in using the default login:

- Navigate to: HELP > ABOUT.
- The firmware version will be listed under Iridium GO! Firmware Version.
How to Download and Install the Firmware Update
Before You Being- Make sure the Iridium GO! is fully charged and powered on.
- You must use a Windows or Mac computer (not a phone or tablet).
- Connect to the Iridium GO! Wi-Fi network.
- The firmware file must be unzipped before use.
- Visit: https://www.iridium.com/go-firmware/
- Download the latest firmware version listed under ‘Download vX.X.X (Users)’.
- Unzip the file and save it to your desktop.
- Power on the Iridium GO! by flipping up the antenna. Wait for the device to fully boot.
- From your computer, join the Iridium GO! Wi-Fi network (SSID will look like
IRIDIUM-xxxxx) - Open a web browser and enter the following address:

- From the main menu, select the System tab.
- Click Choose File, and locate the previously unzipped firmware (
.frm) file (e.g.,maxwell-vX.X.X.frm). - Click Upgrade.
- The update will take approximately 15 minutes. The progress bar will show status until it reaches 100%.
- Once complete, the Iridium GO! will automatically reboot and be ready to use.
