Iridium satellite phones use international phone numbers that look different from standard North American numbers. This article explains what an Iridium phone number looks like and where you can find the number assigned to your rental device.

Understand the Format of an Iridium Satellite Phone Number

An Iridium satellite phone number follows a global format and is longer than most standard phone numbers. A typical Iridium number looks like this:

+8816 234 12345

• +8816 is the global Iridium country code
• The remaining digits are the unique phone number assigned to your device

Iridium numbers always begin with +8816, regardless of where the phone is being used.

Find Your Iridium Phone Number in Your Email Confirmation

After your rental order ships, BlueCosmo sends an email with the phone number assigned to your Iridium satellite phone.

• You will typically receive this email within 24–48 hours after your order is fulfilled
• The email will include your assigned Iridium phone number

Locate Your Iridium Phone Number on the Phone Handset

Your Iridium satellite phone number is printed directly on the handset.

• Check the side of the phone, usually on the left or right edge
• Look for a small label that displays the phone number

You can also find your Iridium phone number on the SIM card retainer included with your rental.

• Open the top flap of your rental bag
• Locate the SIM card retainer inside the pouch
• The assigned phone number is printed on the retainer

Troubleshoot Missing Iridium Phone Number Information

If you cannot find your Iridium satellite phone number, check the following:

• Confirm you received your shipping confirmation email
• Check all sides of the handset for a printed label
• Inspect the SIM card retainer inside the rental bag
