Garmin Response SOS Monitoring for inReach
All BlueCosmo inReach plans include 24/7 emergency monitoring through Garmin Response, formerly known as GEOS/IERCC. When you activate SOS, Garmin Response communicates with you and coordinates with the appropriate local emergency responders.
Set up your inReach emergency contacts in the Garmin Explore portal. You don’t need a separate GEOS registration for an inReach device.

BlueCosmo inReach Billing and Plan Changes
BlueCosmo inReach plans renew monthly on your billing date until you suspend or cancel service. A $35 initial activation fee applies to all plans. All fees in this section are in CAD.
- Monthly service fees are billed one month in advance.
- Activation and administration fees are billed as they occur.
- Usage charges are billed monthly based on each billable use.
- All invoices are electronic.
If you change your inReach plan during a billing cycle, both the monthly service fee and included message allowance are prorated. This means they’re adjusted for the portion of the billing cycle that applies. Additional usage charges apply if you exceed your prorated message allowance.
There’s no administration fee to upgrade your inReach plan. You can downgrade or suspend your plan up to 12 times per year without an administration fee. Each additional downgrade or suspension costs $10.
BlueCosmo inReach Message and Tracking Charges
On BlueCosmo inReach plans, each text message you send or receive counts toward your message allowance. This includes messages sent or received by email or Short Message Service (SMS). If your plan has no included messages, each message is charged at your plan’s additional message rate.
Additional usage charges apply when you exceed your included message or tracking allowance. If your message allowance is prorated after a plan change, additional charges apply when you exceed that adjusted allowance.
Each transmitted position report counts as one track point. A track point contains your Global Positioning System (GPS) coordinates without a text message. The minimum tracking interval is 10 minutes.
BlueCosmo inReach Weather Forecast Charges
BlueCosmo inReach weather charges depend on the forecast type:
- Basic and Basic Marine: Each forecast uses one message from your plan’s allowance. Your plan’s additional message rate applies if you have no included messages or have used your allowance.
- Premium and Premium Marine: Each forecast costs $1.25 CAD, including on Unlimited and Pro Unlimited plans.
Suspend and Restart Your BlueCosmo inReach Service
After the initial 30-day term, you can suspend your BlueCosmo inReach plan once per billing cycle for $6.95 CAD per month. There’s no fee to restart suspended service.
While service is suspended, your inReach device can’t transmit, including SOS requests. You can still access your online account and historical data in the Garmin Explore portal.
You can downgrade or suspend your inReach plan up to 12 times per year without an administration fee. After that, each additional downgrade or suspension costs $10 CAD.
Cancel Your BlueCosmo inReach Service
After the initial 30-day term, you can cancel your BlueCosmo inReach plan at any time without a cancellation fee. The unused portion of your current plan, calculated through your next billing date, is prorated and credited to your account.
If you reactivate canceled inReach service, an activation fee applies. Consider suspending your plan if you expect to use the service again.
Your historical data remains associated with your Garmin Explore user account rather than your inReach device.
BlueCosmo inReach Fair Use Policy
If your use of unlimited inReach messages and tracking grossly exceeds average typical usage, BlueCosmo may, at its option, terminate your service or change your plan to one with no unlimited usage components.
Where reasonable, BlueCosmo will provide you with notice of improper usage before suspension or termination of your service. If appropriate, BlueCosmo may offer you an alternative plan.
